At Zion Home & Building, we believe that a high-end home remodel is about more than updating countertops and switching out plumbing fixtures—it is an outward expression of who you are. For homeowners interested in remodeling in Collin county, home is the ultimate stage for your life’s best moments, from hosting lively family dinners to unwinding after a long week. When a home is designed with intention, it stops being a series of functional rooms and becomes a daily source of pride and inspiration.

When this family approached our design-build team, they were looking for exactly that: character, warmth, and a space that felt unmistakably like them. With green as a family-favorite color, our goal was to weave stunning, sophisticated green touches throughout the kitchen and primary master bathroom to serve as a signature thread binding the entire remodel together.

The result is a timeless, breathtaking transformation that perfectly captures the essence of modern luxury and personal character. Here is how we brought this modern organic kitchen and bathroom remodel from a vision on paper to an inspiring reality.

The Challenge: Correcting Hidden Flooring Chaos

Every true craftsman knows that the prettiest portfolio photos are only as good as the hidden structural integrity beneath them. During the initial phase of the kitchen remodel, our production team encountered a major technical hurdle involving the flooring footprint.

To accommodate the new, expansive open-concept kitchen layout, we had to install new engineered wood flooring to tie seamlessly into the existing layout. However, when we exposed the subfloor, we discovered that the previous installers had failed to maintain a straight line across the house. This lack of precision created a cascading alignment problem, threatening to leave large, unsightly gaps between the old wood planks and the new ones.

In the remodeling industry, a standard contractor might engage in the "blame game," pointing fingers at past installers and passing additional change-order costs onto the homeowner. At Zion, we operate under The Ownership Promise. We take absolute logistical and financial accountability for the project’s execution, protecting your peace of mind when unexpected issues arise.

To solve the alignment issue properly, our team proactively removed a significant portion of the additional existing flooring. By pulling back more of the wood than originally anticipated, we were able to minimize the angle variance and re-establish a perfectly straight grid line. Through precise craftsmanship, we narrowed the unavoidable gaps down to just two tiny spots measuring less than 1/16 of an inch. We then meticulously sealed these microscopic variances with premium, color-matched silicone caulk, ensuring a completely smooth, flush, and structurally sound transition that will stand the test of time.

The Kitchen & Dining Hub: A Entertainer's Dream

The original kitchen suffered from what we call the "McMansion Era" layout—closed off, heavy, and separating the cook from the social conversation. We completely re-engineered the floor plan to establish a expansive, single-level social hub that invites connection.

The Command Center Island

The anchor of the kitchen is a massive custom walnut and alder wood island. The rich, dark wood grain of the island base grounds the room and creates a stunning contrast against the crisp perimeter cabinetry, which is painted in a warm, inviting coat of Sherwin-Williams Kestrel White and Natural Tan. Surrounding the island are custom, soft moss-green upholstered barstools that provide the perfect pop of organic texture.

The Custom Coffee Bar & Hutch

In the dining area, we designed a beautiful custom hutch and coffee bar area that acts as a focal point for hosting. The cabinetry here is painted in Sherwin-Williams Ripe Olive, a deep, sophisticated green that brings immediate depth and character to the dining space. To complement the green cabinets, the upper features reeded glass doors that catch the natural light from the expansive windows.

The Secret Walk-In Pantry

Tucked behind a gorgeous reeded glass door is a fully customized walk-in pantry. To surprise and delight whoever walks in, we wrapped the entire interior of the pantry in a matching rich forest green, pairing the deep painted vertical bead board shelves with natural woven storage baskets and custom oak bread boxes. It is an organized, design-forward oasis hidden right off the main cooktop area.

The Master Bathroom Oasis: From Dated to Spa-Like

Before our team stepped in, the master bathroom was a relic of the early 2000s—defined by dark hexagonal tiles, an oversized and clunky built-in corner deck tub, an enclosed metal-framed shower stall, and heavy theatrical multi-bulb vanity strip lighting. The space felt dark, dim, and entirely uninspiring.

As a top bathroom remodeling contractor in DFW, we gutted the room to its studs to implement a Guided, Predictable Process that turns old layouts into true daily retreats.

  • The Floor: We replaced the dark tiles with a show-stopping, high-impact white and taupe checkerboard marble-look tile floor laid diagonally, making the entire bathroom feel instantly wider and brighter.

  • The Double Vanity: We built a custom double vanity featuring warm, light-oak cabinetry with sleek black pull hardware. This is topped with thick white quartz countertops, dual modern under-mount sinks, minimalist matte black faucets, and stunning arched black-framed mirrors illuminated by contemporary frosted globe vanity lights.

  • The Wet Area: We removed the clunky corner tub structure to make room for a massive, curbless walk-in shower wrapped in premium waterproofing arrays. Standing as the ultimate centerpiece of the oasis is an elegant, white freestanding soaking tub placed against a clean, light-grey vertical bead board accent wall. To bring Jennifer's favorite hue into the bathroom space, a plush emerald-green waffle-weave towel hangs elegantly over the side of the tub, completing the high-end spa aesthetic.
